Consolidated legal texts
Relevant provisions are presented clearly so that amendments and the currently applicable versions can be identified more easily.
VetLex brings together legislation, third-country information, establishment lists, certificates and other veterinary resources in a clearly structured online platform.
Since 1995, MediaLex Verlag GmbH has developed solutions that make it easier for public and private organisations to work with European and national veterinary legislation.
The original idea behind VetLex remains unchanged: users should not have to assemble the information they need from countless individual sources. VetLex brings together EU regulations, implementing acts, national provisions and specialist documents, organises them by subject and makes them easy to find.
Relevant provisions are presented clearly so that amendments and the currently applicable versions can be identified more easily.
Import, export and trade requirements are organised by subject, product group and country.
Approved establishments in EU Member States and third countries can be found without searching through numerous authority websites.
Veterinary certificates, model documents and other forms used in practice are assigned to the relevant subjects and countries.
Tables, summaries and supplementary specialist information support the rapid assessment of complex requirements.
VetLex is available in German, English, French and Russian, supporting cooperation across national borders.
VetLex covers the core areas required for official controls, trade, certification and day-to-day veterinary work.
Ten selected screenshots show key areas of the English VetLex interface. VetLex has been used by authorities, universities, research organisations, ports, airports, border control posts, industry associations and businesses. This combination of official and commercial practice has shaped the structure of the service.
VetLex has passed through several technical generations. As the volume of content grew, the storage media and finally the entire delivery model had to evolve as well.
VetLex begins as a specialist collection for the increasingly harmonised body of European veterinary legislation.
The content was initially distributed on CD-ROM, updated regularly and supplemented with current online documents and references.
When legislation, lists and supplementary information exceeded the capacity of a CD-ROM, distribution moved to DVD.
Eventually, even DVD capacity became restrictive. Together with the need for faster updates, this was an important reason for moving to a fully online service.
Current VetLex references include authorities, universities, border control services, associations and businesses in Germany and elsewhere in Europe:
